Bio

Martha Heller and her team at Heller Search specialize in recruiting CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, and other IT executives across multiple industries. Prior to founding Heller Search in 2010, she was Managing Director of the IT Leadership Practice at ZRG Partners, a global executive search firm.

Before she established her career in executive search, Ms. Heller was Founder and Managing Director of IDG’s CIO Executive Council, a professional organization for CIOs. During her seven-year tenure at CIO magazine (IDG), she developed leadership programs for CIOs and directed the CIO Best Practice Exchange, a members-only network of IT leaders from top-tier organizations. Ms. Heller wrote a weekly column on IT leadership and led a series of executive events on IT staffing, career development, and leadership. Before CIO magazine, she was an editor at Rutgers University Press. She received her B.A. in English from Hamilton College and her M.A. in English from SUNY Stony Brook.

Ms. Heller continues to engage with CIO audiences every day. She is author of The CIO Paradox: Battling the Contradictions of IT Leadership, and Be the Business: CIOs in the New Era of IT. She writes CIO.com’s Movers & Shakers blog, and her e-newsletter, The Heller Report: You and Your CIO Career, is read by thousands of IT professionals every week. As a highly sought-after keynote speaker on leadership and the CIO role, she has appeared at the Research Board, CIO Perspectives, MIT, Harvard University, SIMposium, the National Retail Federation, Cisco, Sprint, and ServiceNow. Each year, she serves on the judging panel for the TBM Awards and the CIO 100 Awards.
